On August 23 we will have the first of two new moons in the sign of Virgo. The first one is exactly on 0 degrees. Then on September 21, the Sun and Moon will meet again, this time at 29 degrees of Virgo. This doubling up happens every 29 months.

Virgo, the corn goddess, is associated with the harvest, a time in the northern hemisphere where fruits and vegetables are abundant and coming to the end of their season. Individuals born with planets in Virgo are hard workers, practical, stable and nurturing. More than any other zodiac sign Virgos pay attention to details. This can result in excellence, perfectionism, and a hyper critical nature.

This next lunar cycle of 28 days is a particularly auspicious time for gaining clarity and setting intentions that align with Virgo energy. Take time to focus specifically on the work and health outcomes you want to see in your life, or anything that you want to improve, then use the days surrounding the first new moon to start working your way towards change. This new moon at 0 degrees signifies a powerhouse of new potentials, options and energy, while the second one at 29 degrees symbolizes a culmination and fruition point.

To keep things interesting, Eclipse season is also upon us. Eclipses shake up the status quo, often bringing unexpected events or something that has been slowly brewing to a crisis. On September 7th there will be a full moon or lunar eclipse at 15 Pices. Lunar Eclipses tend to act like a full moon on steroids. Emotions run high, and because Pisces is highly sensitive, deeply emotional and very intuitive it may take extra work to stay centered and regulated. Emotions stirred up during lunar eclipses tend to pass quickly, like the intense thunderstorms we’ve been experiencing in the Twin Cities. Because Pisces is associated with water we could see more issues with flooding.

Solar eclipses are harder to pinpoint in time. Often events associated with eclipse will happen six weeks to two months before or after the actual date of the eclipse. If you have planets at the last three degrees of Virgo or the first two degrees of Libra this eclipse will usher change into your life depending on the planet, its house, and aspects. I will be writing more about this new moon Solar eclipse in the September newsletter.
